Shenzhen China: The Most Advanced City on Earth & What It Feels Like

So, right now the drone estimate the delivery time between 12:24 and 12:34, and the bike says around 12:26. 12:26. So, the motorbike could be here before the drone, even though it has to go through like traffic and lights and all that stuff, where the drone just comes straight here. So, I'm pretty excited to see see who wins. Uh Tracy's going to be a drone team and I'm going to be a delivery guy team. Yeah. Go human. Go human. No? No? The drones are cool, but I

still feel like yeah. I want human to win, yeah. A few moments later. There is no way. Like I was so not ready. And before just a few days ago, I really thought that Huawei was only making like internet routers and cell phones and things like that, but they also make cars and the technology that they have in those cars is like mind-boggling. So, I just wanted to play with cars a little bit cuz cuz I'm a boy. Come on in the car of the future, Tracy. It's really comfy, actually. Oh, yeah. Right? The Chinese cars have just

like so many features that just blows my mind. It is all unnecessary, but makes them just cooler than what we have in North America. Now, I'm going to put you like real comfortable. You ready? So, like their cheapest car start at about 33,000 USD, but the

difference is is that the amount of option and quality that you get in those cars compared to the same price car in the US, for example, is like 10 times more. Fully electric and all like these are not bad. Are they taking all your information though and like storing it on servers in China? Probably. But if you're just a dumb YouTuber like me that doesn't really do anything, it doesn't change much. That's actually a pedestrian crossing. But one thing we've learned here is apparently pedestrians and mopeds are mopeds are one and the same. So, just be

automated. So, we're going to do two things. I'm going to order a robot taxi for Tracy and at the same time I'm going to order myself a DiDi, which is the uh of Uber in China, and we'll see who's arriving at destination first. they have done a bunch of test flights. So, behind us is the Ehang Ehang UAM operation demonstration center, and this is the future of transportation, the future of Uber and ehailing. Like those are flying taxis. They look like giant drones. They have two in the hangar there that you can see through the windows. And like basically, they're fully automated just like the taxi that Tracy was on earlier, but not me. I'll do it that later. So, from this helipad here, you just sit. You can be two people in it, and they can fly you to different location.

Obviously, it's not going to land in front of like the McDonald's or Starbucks you want to go, but it will fly to like different hub. You can actually take it from here in Shenzhen all the way to Hong Kong if you want, which is crazy. What are What are your thoughts? Like would you try that? Like flying in basically what is a giant drone that is fully automated? I think it depends on how far it's going. Technology aside, Shenzhen is one of the cities with the most skyscrapers, but not only that, it's one of the cities that has the most green spaces in it, too. So, it makes these areas feel very nice. There is something refreshing about it for being a city. Like we were in a park this morning. We're by the waterfront now. It's really nice. Right now, we're just connecting through the Huaqiang

subway station. This place is so big. It legit looks like an airport. And this here is what they call the IO of Shenzhen. This connects like four different lines, I think. This place is incredible. I am so happy that we're taking the line this way instead of this way cuz that is like a thousand people waiting to go on the train. And there's a thousand people exiting this one. Jeez. This subway is a high-speed subway. It is one of the fastest in the world. It goes up to 120 km an hour and even has a first class. This is just like public transport.

transport. Look at that in the subway. Done. Done. So, we just made it to Coco Park for something that we really want to see at 7:00. 7:00. But the intersection in front of us is Wuhe and Yabao. And it is a very busy intersection. And a few weeks ago, about 2 weeks ago, the local police just launched a pilot program with a traffic robot controlling the intersection. And right now, it is kind of like peak traffic hour, so we want to see if we can catch it. It's not there all the time, but that would be really cool to see. So, right there is the

intersection in question. It is sadly not there, but it is the right spot because that little red and white booth that you see, that's what they put in the middle of the intersection for the robot to stand on. Just Just That's happening in like nonstop. That drone, it's In this area, they're everywhere. It is so crazy like to just see drones flying everywhere. So, as I was saying before the drone, so that's the intersection. This is the police station where it comes from, but yeah, no luck today. And I'm looking for like a police officer to ask, but

there's like nobody at the counter of that police station, so We tried. So, not just Shenzhen, but China in general is basically a cashless society through the WeChat app. You can pay for literally anything. That just like that, we're done. And a fun fact, if you have a national ID as a Chinese resident, you can actually pay in certain places with your hand, yes, or facial recognition, which is crazy. Even Pizza Hut has a robot. So, no, we did not come here for pizza. Even though it's really good, but the place that we were going is closed just today.

check it out? It is the Huaqiang Bay market, which is the world's largest electronic market with everything you can imagine from like iPhone to drones to all kinds of consumer electronics. So, we're just going to check it out and see if we can find anything cool in there. Let's go get lost in the market. The store behind me is selling all kinds of drones. And I'm talking drones like that are this big and drones that are big enough to literally fit anything fly. Like it is insane. I've never seen this many. And yes, it is much cheaper than what you would

pay in North America even for the DJI stuff. And they have second-hand drones too that look brand new. Like this is really cool. You really have to be careful where you walk because there's little robots like everywhere and RC cars. And I've never seen this many drones in my entire life. Everyone is selling drones. It's like everyone in China has their own drone. But when you think about it, 70% of the world production of drone is made right here in Shenzhen. So, when we heard of this market, to be honest, I thought it was going to be like chaos. But

it's actually very organized, nicely laid out. It's a good experience if you're looking for something. This is more kind of what I was expecting, I think. So, on the second floor, it's actually wholesale. So, you can buy like chips and computer parts and things like that in massive quantities. So, this part is less is less appealing. Look at that. You can buy a mini version of an iPhone. Like this is my hand. This is like the new iPhone 17. iPhone. So, as you can see, this place is massive. There is over 70 million square meters of store here. Over

38,000 here. Over 38,000 stores. stores. And as you can see by all of these bikes here, here, over 130 Oh, sorry. 130,000 employees. Well, well, well. This place surprised me, to be honest, because I wasn't expecting a bunch of like cheap knockoffs and things like that. But no, like all the brands are here. Like the Huawei, the Oppo, the DJI, Dell, Asus. Like anything you can imagine, they probably have a store here. And I've done a lot of price comparison everywhere. And about everything is a little bit to a lot cheaper except Apple product. But you

have the option here of buying a lot of refurbished second-hand product. So, if you want like a brand new, but not quite new, iPhone 17, for example, like you're going to pay half the price. So, major chain here that I see for coffee is Luckin Coffee. I really wanted to try it since we've been here. So, it creates a perfect opportunity to do opportunity to do human-made through Luckin. motorcycle, but they're technically like assisted electric bicycle and not motorcycle. And because of that, I guess they're just allowed to be on the sidewalk. But they're just like doing deliveries and stuff. So, they're zipping by you and like weaving through people and stuff. It like walking on the sidewalk legit doesn't feel safe in some places. So, there's that. I've never felt David be so protective than walking on the sidewalk. And not because of theft or anything like that. It's purely It's purely Because of these guys. They're just like Last

night I was just walking and one just like hit my elbow like pretty hard. Like ow. Yes, they are underground too. It's hard to describe like the amount of technology that you cross everywhere you go in this city. And it's not just like us making it up for the video. Like there's little robots cleaning the streets, the malls, the amount of like robot arm kind of vending machine that we've been seeing everywhere for like coffee and tea and ice cream and a bunch of different stuff. Earlier we saw one that was doing like noodle, but like making noodle from

scratch, but it was broken. But uh My favorite part of our last night last night was all of the drones. Like we thought it was just like a one two drone in our little park. We come over and like see 15. Everywhere. 15. Everywhere. It's crazy. It's just crazy. This might be a very unpopular opinion, but I'm going to say it anyway. There's like a cat cafe there. And the idea of like me sitting drinking something while there's a bunch of cat running like and rubbing against my legs and jumping on me sounds horrible. I think what sums it up is David is not

David is not a cat person. a cat person. I hate cats. If it was dogs though, I'd be the first one sitting there pretending that I like coffee just to play with them. I'm actually really pumped about this restaurant because it is not a type of robot restaurant that I've seen like anywhere else. You know how much romance this robot just brought, Tracy? just go like on the counters. They actually come from the wall. I don't know where, but they come from the wall. So, basically there's a door and then they load the plate and it must be done by magnetic on the wall. the wall. Brings it up and over and then they land it on the yellow path. And the yellow path then I assume magnetically brings it to the table that it's supposed to. Oh, ours is blinking. So, I assume we have something incoming there. First bite of robot delivered food. Yep. So, we got a crispy beef baguette. Uh so, the baguette is

definitely not crispy. definitely not crispy. But the flavor of it is not bad at all. Thank you. Thank you. I got some beef skewer and like the smell is actually like really, really nice. And then that little thing brings it. But there's still a human that like just removed the cap on it. I think that comes back to like your favorite thing in a restaurant is like you always ask a waiter, "What is your favorite thing?" Yeah. Where So, we always end up eating really good

food. The robots they they don't answer that question. So, point for humans. So, right now we are all packed up and we're going to a different hotel still in Shenzhen because we're splurging a little because it's actually Tracy's birthday tomorrow. One of the small things like in terms of technology that I find fascinating since we're right here in China is that the ride-sharing app that they have, Didi, is somehow connected to every single street light everywhere. So, on the app, when you stop at an intersection, you can see a countdown on the app that tells you when the light is going to go from red to green. And once it's green, you'll see another countdown that shows you basically the amount of time that you have to go through the intersection. Like it's not it's not a

big thing, but I found that really cool. Nihao. Nihao. This place is nice. Yeah, in Shenzhen sometimes you just casually share an elevator with a robot. No big deal. So, give you a quick tour around. It is absolutely insane. So, we have the toilet on this side, shower over here. And I got to say like for the space with the mirrors, it really feels like a huge room. room. We have the bed here with multiple different types of pillows. David loves the little tiny flat pillows. So, there's one there just for your hand. Huge windows, little seating area. This

is new that I've seen at least. A water machine. So, instead of giving you like bottles of water or having a machine in the hallway, right there. And another like amazing space thing. That's a desk. It pulls out. There's a chair there, a stool under there. Luggage area. Luggage area. I'm happy. So we had a little change of plans because yesterday after my run there was some thunder and lightning so we couldn't do anything. But today's Tracy's birthday. Happy birthday Tracy. We were just cut like by a little moped that just went straight in front of the car and came out of nowhere and the car just you know braked a little bit and it technology. I'm just thinking about the fact that you know we've been talking about this these types of cars for many years and in my head I was like yeah that's like in 2060 2070 but no 2026. This is it. I'm in one right now and I'm blown away. And just like that it is gone. I like this was great super smooth like no issue at

all very impressive technology. I just maybe have a little trust issue the fact that there's no human even though to be honest it probably drives better than 99% of humans. This is just like a robot store that shows all kinds of technology from like these little robot dogs exoskeleton and a bunch of like futuristic toys to very like humanoid like full size robots as well. So if you're wondering where you can buy an actual robot I guess it's here. So they have a really cool machine behind you. Once you kind of reset it you stand in front of it and it supposedly which we've tested isn't that far off does your blood pressure your glucose I'm not sure how it does that. Gives you risk

factor for everything your breathing your oxygenation your pulse all of these things even your skin age and your body age. But do you feel like it's a little too simple just by scanning your face? As much as this seems too good to be true this camera does say 4K.
