So, you'd have you could have massage all day if you wanted. This is a kind of scale electric track, but you can control it with your mind. How crazy is that? You put this little headband on and apparently the more you concentrate it, the faster the car actually goes, which is cool. I feel like I would be so distracted probably. So maybe it wouldn't work as well. Just got to concentrate really hard. You must be concentrating cuz it's going fast. I feel like I'm not concentrating. I'm not sure how much control I have of it if I'm honest. Try and relax and

not think about any Oh, it's working. It's actually slowed down my mind wave. So this is when I was relaxing and then it slowed down and then when I I just had that coffee so I feel like I'm getting excited. 15 minutes earlier we had ordered from an app to use the drone delivery service. This service has been going viral on social media and was one of the reasons we were so keen to visit this city. Oh yeah, there's another one in the sky. Oh, there's one just coming up. There's two up there. He's coming in 2 minutes. So we got to make our way. It might

be coming already. Oh, there it is. It's the drone. See, it's got like what? Six different things. Propellers. Propellers. Wow. You're going to be amazed about what we've ordered. Here it comes. Wow. We've just come to a different part of the city of Shenzhen and we're about to take a robot taxi. So, there's no driver. That's kind of crazy. I'm a bit nervous. The car is white and there's something on the top of the car. They have something on the top because it need a sensor. Need a camera to detect. Yeah, this one. Oh, yeah. There it is. It's a robot. Oh, wow. Yeah. So, you can see all the sensors and cameras

on the outside. Oh, look. Is this our driver? This is our driver. Oh my god. They put a stuffed animal in there. You can broadcast music. You can you can see some video. You can see the maps. You can do everything. Uh, sorry. Seat belt. So, the only way we can start moving is if we press this button. I can't drive. So, this feels like a lot of power in the wrong hands. But we have got this little stuffed animal guy and no one in the driver's seat. Okay, here we go. Press start. Let's go. We are about to start. Please make sure your seat is securely

fastened. Look. So, this is so weird. The wheel is spinning. You can contact us by tapping the assist. Should I turn these? Yeah. Wait, what? It's actually fast. No way. There is no one in this car. Wait, I I thought it would be slow. This is freaky. This is so weird. It's like it's pressing the pedal. Yeah. So, we go 54 km an hour right now. We're changing zone. He's overtaking. Flipping heck. He's not messing about, is he? So, as you can see on here, you It's fully AI, so it's tracking all the cars in all the lanes. So, it knows everything that's going

on. This is so weird. Like, has this ever been in a crash? I don't understand how it's working. Oh, look. You can see actually people as they're walking and bikes as well. It's not just cars. I love how like the dashboard's like fully working still. Yeah. But there's just no one. It's just so weird. There's just no one here. You kind of just think you're in a normal taxi and then you look at the wheel just spinning on its own. It's when you change lane for me when it's starting like it worries me. It's so weird. Oh, there's a bike going. Oh, he stopped.

He didn't hit the bike. I was quite worried. He was going to hit the bike. I thought he was going to hit the bike and then the bike just went and I went, "Oh, no." But then we stopped. So, it's also tracking humans, not just cars. It's a good driver. It is a good driver. It's just this is the future. Like taxi drivers are not going to be needed. They're already not needed in shenzen. It's actually a bit terrifying in that sense. Yeah, it is. If you do want to use this driverless taxi, it's called Pony AI. Definitely recommend it. Just like a man in the

street. Look. And it's there's a man in front of us. And look, you can see him on the map. The AI map. Fred did tell us before he left that there's not been any accidents with these things. in that car. Someone stop it. Can't believe that's actually happening here in China. That is a general public service which you can take. We've just arrived at the DJI flagship store because apparently 70% of all the drones in the entire world are actually made here in Shenzen. And obviously DJI is the biggest drone company in the world. Walking through this area, we were able to check out some of the products which shows Shenzen's tech enthusiasm. This city is often called China's Silicon Valley, a city built on innovation, startups, and tech giants

that shape the world. This is the home of Huawei, DJI, and BYD, who in 2024 actually overtook Tesla in production and sales. Shenzen is the beating heart of China's tech future. Good morning, guys. As you probably know, Amelia and I love to have coffee, especially as it's the morning. And we want to show you one of the other ways which you can order coffee. So, you've got your drone coffee, you've got your robot coffee, and now you've got this is probably the most common way people actually order coffee. So, within WeChat, you have like these mini

programs. And here we've got the M Stand Coffee, which is like one of the best coffee chains here in China. And you can literally organized to pick up your coffee straight away. And the weird thing is everyone does it. And so, you get to this stage where no one is talking to the barista. There's basically no communication. Everyone comes in, picks up their coffee, and leaves. Like, it's weird to take away those day-to-day little interactions. Okay, we've just seen that it's actually cheaper to order on the app. So, you're actually saving money and you

can even choose when you're going to pick it up. So, you can choose like 10:30, 11, 12, like. So, the current update is the coffee is in production and it should be completed very soon. And look at the coffee name. It says Australia and white. That's how I like my coffee. Yeah, flat white. Flat light, also known as Don't know about you, but I feel like outdoor escalators are kind of crazy cuz what happens when it like rains? Yeah, true. I Isn't it electronic? Does it just I don't know. Are they waterproof? Maybe they are. The future's let us down because

we're here but the coffee is not yet. Even though there's no physical queue in there. It's all online. It's online quue. Coffee. This is the right order, right? Yeah. And cuz I can't read it. We literally said nothing to the barista, which is kind of sad. That is beautiful. Proper smooth froth. Such good cappuccino froth. Look at all the flipping ebikes they've got here. Wow. There's actually so many. There's actually hundreds and they're stacked so tightly. It feels like this is the way how the locals get around. Ebike. As you'll see later when we go to

the civic center. It's such a quiet city because you just don't have the loud petrol diesel cars which you have in other countries. Right in front of us now is the world's largest electronic market. And we're actually going to go in there now and see what we can find because I'm kind of interested if there's actually going to be a lot of stolen iPhones from the UK. That's the rumors we've heard anyway. Oh, cameras. watches, everything, earphones. Kind of like these old gaming machines. They look so cool, right? Yeah. I mean, I reckon they'd be in

Chinese, but they look kind of fun whilst we're on our endless flights. I'm amazed cos everyone seems to be selling the same things. And it's also incredibly clean in here. I thought it was just going to be like a crazy electronics market where everything looks, you know, not super clean and kind of bit crazy, but everything is just polished and perfect. It really is. Even though I think a lot of these stuff, especially the Apple Watches, are reused. Second secondhand. Uh yeah, many many many So they're secondhand, not new, secondhand. We were just

looking at those Apple watches and the guy actually said that some of these are not real Apple and maybe some are kind of secondhand, but some of them are definitely like a fake brand, although they do look almost exactly the same as Apple. This one's nice. Okay, maybe pink or blue. Mhm. They're only a pound. Wow. Oh, bless her. She's putting it on for you. I know. What treatment? It's like the smallest iPhone or phone I've ever seen. It looks like an iPhone. It looks like a small iPhone. I've just seen Is this real? Is this a toy? YouTube. That's not

allowed here. Google and YouTube. It's definitely not a Chinese-made phone. Well, might be made in China, but it's not for Chinese. I love how on the back they've still got the three cameras. Yeah, let's just squeeze them on. Does it actually take photos? Surely just mini. The first floor was consumer products. Apparently, this floor is like the components. So, the bits which makes the iPhones and all those little bits which we're probably not interested in, but Oh, yeah. It looks a lot more industrial here, doesn't it? Look at all the components.

There's like so many little bits which I don't even know what they are. Little bits of phones or any electronic appliances. Come here. We haven't seen any iPhones yet. And there's supposed to be this one building. I've forgotten the name of it where they basically all end up. And we're on the hunt for it right now. So, we started to see some iPhones. The 16 Pro Max there. Real or secondhand? You know? Second. Secondhand. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I do like how they're honest and they're saying yes, they are secondhand because I mean it'll probably obvious once

you start looking at them more closely, but you know some people I feel like in other parts of Asia just be like, "Yeah, it's new." You're like, "Are you sure?" Yeah. Just so they can charge you a bit more. Look at all the drones they have. Like this city was obsessed with drones. It's actually mad. It's like everyone must have their own drone. Wow. That is huge. That's like a plane. Okay, we've tried looking but we just can't find them anywhere. Can we? No. There is a few iPhones about but not Yeah, they're like dotted about a little bit but not like

one floor. We've heard it's on a fourth floor one building and we've tried and can't find it. We've just ordered a DD. Not quite the robo taxi like yesterday, but one of the cool things is it always has the countdown of the traffic lights so you know how long it's going to be which I think is always No. Just feels more futuristic. Like I've never seen that on Uber. Have you? No. Here is the DiDi. We've just arrived at a point where I think we're going to be served lunch by robots. I don't know what it's going to be like. I don't know what robots look

like or what they'll look like in this restaurant. Oh, there's a sign. It must be popular. It's called Orbit One. This way, there's another endstand coffee. They're everywhere. They're so good as well. Here we are. Orbit one. This is the Look at it. It's got like neon lights inside. Yeah. Oh, it's very empty. It's probably just for tourists like us. Yeah. And the staff are Okay. First impressions. I'm not really sure where the robots are so far. I thought they might be serving us. I don't know what I thought. I thought I was living in 2100. We've made

our order on WeChat without talking to anyone like pretty much everywhere in China. And now we're waiting for our little robot things to deliver our food. Here's the robot. It's like levitating. How does it move again? Yeah. Okay. She's doing it again. She's doing it again for us. It's so cool how it's moving. It's coming down the main strip. How does it work? Going to I don't know what is going to happen, but he's doing something. It's on fire. They're cooking the steak. Oh, it's another one. And whilst that's going off, we've got another robot coming. Oh, the chicken. Sis. Wa! Look at them on the wall. How are they doing that? Wow. Is there food in there, do you think? I don't know. Yum. Let's dig in. So, we've got some chicken, some

steak, and some pineapple prawn rice, which is very good. The staff in that restaurant was so cute. I think they were happy to have us because we were like over the top excited about it and they gave me a present. The food was like it was decent. I wouldn't say it was like amazing to be honest, but it was it was fun experience. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't all done by robots, but as the staff were so nice, it doesn't really matter. And it's kind of like a quirky fun experience to do if you are here in Shenzen. Maybe we have too high

expectations for what robots can do, especially after yesterday. Like you can probably see why. Anyway, now we're going to go and get on the metro. Yeah, it's actually Is it a driverless metro? Yeah. So, three of the lines here are actually driverless. This is the present they gave you. They probably saw you have your pink phone case. So, we have just arrived to another area of town. This is the Civic Square and behind me here is the fifth tallest building in the world and the second tallest in China, which is pretty cool. And we have a massive flag pole

of the Chinese flag. I've got I've got a fact for you. Shen Shenzen has the most skyscrapers in the world. Over 200 m. So there's a lot of Hong Kong. Yeah. Over 200 m. So like super tall skyscrapers. Cool fact. Getting hot out here. So I think we need a picari sweat. Let's go for this one. And of course the only way you can actually pay is with a QR code. Translate it and pay. If you haven't tried Picari Sweat, it's an Asian like rehydration drink. You have to try. It's tasty and it hydrates you when you're sweaty and hot outside. It's got lots of

electrolytes and it tastes really good. Oh, it's so good. It's a very bland colored skyline. Yeah, but wait till the lights come on. True. Then it's a party. It just feels super futuristic. Yeah. Like every building looks like it's been built in the last I don't know 4 years. Yes. And it's like gleaming brand new. Shenzhen began to change from a fishing village in 1980 when the city became China's first special economic zone. Investors rushed in and factories appeared and the population exploded into millions almost overnight. By the 2000s, Shenzhen had

shifted from a cheap manufacturing to high techch innovation. Today, nearly 80 million people live in one of the fastest growing cities in history. I'm not quite sure what this building is behind us. I think it's some kind of civil service building. Um, that looks quite cool. This is so good. So far, we really felt like Shenzen has like a very different feel to like other parts of China. It feels so young, techy, like people are skateboarding. I haven't seen that anywhere else in China. Even when we're in Beijing. Yeah, it's a cool city. Probably a place

you'd want to live. Much more relaxed. There's probably a lot of job opportunities as well. and hot. Very hot. We've got another camera up here. God knows how many there actually is in this square and on this road alone. Like, well, just in Shenzhen, there's so many cameras everywhere. They really are everywhere. And they're quite obvious as well. I feel like other countries try to kind of hide the cameras, but here they're like boom in your face. There's this thing called like face paying here in China, and I feel like all the cameras have face

tracking, so they're like just know where everyone is. Like if you were to steal something, I feel like they can track you down in 5 minutes. So there's like no crime. It's so tall. Do you ever get that feeling when you look up at a tall building and you get like that vertical or like the you feel like it's going to fall on you? Very tall. We have made our way down towards the one avenue area. And this is not the downtown area cuz there's not really a one downtown area. There's like lots of different hubs around Shenzen because it's such a big city, but

this feels like the most central part if you know what I mean. Yeah, it definitely does. It also feels like maybe one of the wealthiest parts because some of the shops, the buildings, super luxury and like it's all Yeah, the buildings are look crazy here. It's so tall around here. So, this is the area apparently which lights up really well at night. So, I think what we're going to do, we're going to go in inside and then we're going to come out in like an hour's time when all the lights are out, I hope. So, right, see you in about 1 hour. The lights are

on. The sun has gone down and the lights are on behind us. It's kind of a little bit disappointing because we thought there would be more lights. Like, we've seen pictures of the whole skyline lit up, but I think that might actually be a special thing on Friday and Saturday that they actually have a light show. Yeah. And unfortunately, it's not Friday or Saturday. It's Tuesday. So, yeah, the lights have just come on like over here. And it looks so cool. I think we literally just missed it. Look, all the lights are suddenly on. We're looking at the wrong

bit. Wo! The whole street is just lit up. I know. It's actually crazy. It's actually everywhere now. We were so wrong and we were just in the wrong spot. I don't know how they're doing it where they've attached all the lights on the different buildings. But it looks so cool. I don't know. How do you synchronize that? I guess all the buildings maybe were built at the same time. Even the tallest building over there has like What is that? Like an eye on it or something. It looks so cool. We literally just in the wrong point. It looks so good. I think it's

ended now. Maybe it was a little light show or something. Yeah. I guess otherwise they'd use so much power. Yeah, they clearly can't do that all night because it would be so much. But one thing I found interesting is like other places in China where they have like a light show on there is just crowds of tourists. And here there's really only a couple of people about with cameras. So like you can just tell it's not a touristy city. I've just seen a robot cleaner. That is pretty cool. That will save people working hard in the hot weather. Look at this

thing. I'm probably going to stop it moving, right? You're going to stop it in its tracks. Oh, he's got eyes. He's got a face on it. He's got places to clean. I'll get out of his way. He's doing a good job. It is very clean around here. I haven't seen a single bit of even chewing gum on the floor. We'll see. All right. Yeah. Give it up to the cleaner. Well done, buddy. Shenzhen's story is nothing short of incredible. A city transformed in just 40 years. Walking its streets feels like stepping into tomorrow, where the future is already imagined, even if

it's still in its early stages. And who knows, in only a few years, there could be even more robots, fleets of driverless taxis, and a drone deliveries woven into people's daily routines.
