Hey guys today I'm taking you through my cross-city commute. This morning, I head out and came to a bus stop near my home to catch a bus to the train station. It's super convenient here—the station is just one stop away so basically any bus works. There was another person waiting with me and the bus showed up pretty quickly. I just scan a QR code with my phone to pay. No need for cash which makes things way easier. The bus isn't crowded at all I find a seat sit back and just like that the day starts. After getting off the bus we've arrived at Huiyang
Railway Station. Part of the area here is still under construction and blocked off. Let's walk a bit further—there are a few concrete barriers here so it's not the easiest to get through. If you have a stroller or a wheelchair this entrance might be a bit inconvenient. Looking up you can see the big Chinese characters on the building Huiyang Railway Station Now it's time to go through the ticket check. You just scan your ID at the gate and it opens automatically—super convenient. If you're using a passport you can go through the manual check instead.
Usually boarding starts about 15 minutes before departure and stops around 3 minutes before the train leaves. My ticket is for Car 2. According to the announcement, the train will stop at the yellow marker. So I'll be waiting right here—this is the spot for Car 2. Our train will arrive at Platform 4 and across from me are Platforms 2 and 3. The platform on my side is mainly for trains heading to Shenzhen Guangzhou and Dongguan while the opposite side serves routes to Chaoshan Xiamen and Shanghai. While waiting a train passes through the station at high
speed— it flies through the station. After that train passed through the announcement start again. The platform next to me Platform 5 is for trains heading to Changsha so make sure to check carefully before boarding or it's easy to get on the wrong train. Then, the arrival chime starts to play and our train is about to enter the station. The announcement reminds everyone to stay behind the yellow safety line. I really like the color scheme of this train the red is very eye-catching and the streamlined design looks great. This train is actually two sets
coupled together so it can carry more passengers. And the exterior is very clean today it looks in great condition. The doors slowly open and we start boarding the train. As I step inside there's a notice posted at the entrance this is a quiet carriage. Here you're expected to keep things quiet. No loud talking and it's best to avoid making or taking phone calls. If you're watching videos make sure to use headphones so you don't disturb other passengers. My seat is 13C right around the middle of the train. I'll go find my seat now and get settled in for
the ride. The tray table in front of the seat is pretty useful. Just unlock it to fold it down and push it back up to store it away. Right above my seat there's a screen that shows the next stop. Let's walk forward and check out the front of the carriage. The doors between carriages are automatic so there's no need to open them manually. After departing from Huiyang this train runs non-stop all the way to Shenzhen North Station at relatively high speed. Standing by the window you can enjoy the city views along the way. Residential buildings office towers
parks and factories all pass by quickly outside. At this moment the screen inside the train shows that we're traveling at 244 kilometers per hour. There's an information card in every seat pocket feel free to take a look if you need it. The second-class seats are quite clean and they're also very comfortable to sit in. We're about to arrive soon. The journey is 56 kilometers it took just 26 minutes and the ticket costs 25CNY. What do you think about this kind of commute is it worth it? North Station. Quite a lot of people are getting off here so let me grab my things We're about to get off. At the exit you just scan your ID again to leave the station-still very convenient. still very convenient. Let's head to the square in front of the station and take a look at Shenzhen North Station. It's not too crowded today and the weather is pretty nice. For lunch I'm just having a simple bowl of Lanzhou beef noodles clear broth with sliced beef really satisfying. The beef slices are just the right thickness and the noodles are nice and chewy I
went with the thin noodles. The soup is light and flavorful really easy to drink and I added some scallions and cilantro for extra taste. Finished everything I'm feeling really full.
